I've completed the build of a new bass.
Unlike other Brooks basses that I've built this does not feature a mix of a classic Gibson bass with another non-Gibson classic.
The Brooks EB-N is an original design that I came up with in an attempt to give it a bit of a classic vibe without referring to well known designs.

- One piece mahogany body
- Smoked oak constrasting veneer in between layer
- Bookmatched flamed maple top
- Five ply quartersawn mahogany/American walnut neck
- Ebony fretboard
- Mother of Pearl position marker dots. 12th circle inlay

- Zero fret and buffalo horn nut

- Gotoh GB 707 bass tuners
- Push-pull volume pot for humbucking or single coil

I see that you chose a Lace pickup for that bass. Would you care to comment on why you chose that pickup?
I have never tried a Lace pickup before. I have always been a bit curious about them.

First of all, thank you all for the nice comments.

I chose the Lace Alumitone because it is a super quiet pickup with great dynamics and an articulate sound.
About a year ago I built a twelve string bass for Rob van der Loo of the band Epica. He wanted two humbuckers on this monster; one for the bass amp and the other for a guitar amp. I went on a search for humbuckers with bar magnets that are wide enough for the rather wide string spacing of a twelve string 34" scale bass.
I stumbled upon a few YouTube vids that featured the Alumitone Bass Bar. And I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent sound.
So when I was getting ready to build this EB-N bass, I chose to use the Lace Alumitone again.

In the meanwhile I've made a quick video of the new bass. Just me noodling on the EB-N.
But you get an idea of the sounds ;-)

I made a new video. I wasn't very happy with the recording quality of the first one. It has too much distortion in the low end.
I didn't have any proper recording equipment to go into the iMac.
So I bought a Focusrite Scarlett Solo to get a decent signal into the computer.
At least the the sound quality has improved a bit.
