New Build 34" 4 string fretted

Looks great!!!

Question about the bridge: the saddles are just layed over the wooden part of the bridge, right? there is no screw holding them on place? to intonate, you just move them back and forth, and the strings' pressure holds them in place?
If this is so, any problems with intonation? I'm wanting to do something similar but I'm concerned that the saddles might move if there is no screw holding them in place.

thanks!

very nice bass! :) How do you adjust the saddles' height? I am planning something similar with a screw at each side of the bridge. Does the lack of adjustment give you any problem at all?

Many fretless instruments and guitars don't have height adjustment.... you just adjust the saddles' heights just as you adjust the height at the nut.

I suppose changing string gauge might be problematic.

I assume you can always lower the action by sanding the saddle down, or heighten it by placing something like a thin veneer below the saddle (at least that's what I plan to do!!)

What I did was I file down the saddle till the action was as low as possible. Then I have a few pieces of veneer if I want to raise the action I just slide a piece or two under the bridge and since its recessed into the body you cant tell. I guess bottom line is if you find yourself changing the action on your bass on a daily basis this sort of bridge is not for you.
