I just picked up a used MAS 18 w/o tweeter from a fellow TBer .
This is my second MAS cab and it is now my favorite upright bass cab.
I compared it to my Greenboy Crazy 8 and Greenboy 2x 8 and I prefer the overall size and sound of the MAS.
I believe a used MAS is probably one of the best purchases I’ve made in 2020.
Hassle free at a competitive price point.
Since it’s a little beat up and Tuki is local, i’ll get them to make a cover to avoid more wear and tear.

This case fits the MAS 18 perfectly and has backpack straps!

Got a chance to hear my bass through the MAS 18 from the audience when another bass player sat in on the gig last night. Sounded killer; clearer and louder from the audience than on the bandstand (outside; no PA). That cab really “throws.”
Signal chain = 1850’s Tyrolean —> Full Circle —> Sarno Black Box —> Tonedexter (98% mic sound; 2% pick-up) —> AI Clarus SL —> MAS 18.

Been playing the powered 18 1200w for about a year. Previously it was the 16 or 46MAS but the 16 was felonized from the back of my car and I got the 18 thinking it would cover both...and it does for sure. I don't play anywhere that it isn't loud enough or clear enough. But I miss the 16 and last week I played the 46 again and man how I love the sound of that cab. I suppose if I doubled I would dig the 18 better but I don't. Walking in with the little 16 was killin and if I ever bought another cab it would be the powered 16. But I dont find myself itching to sell the 18 either. It may be a little middy (the 46 and 16 have this wide open sound) and cutting but it is like the spiros of HIFI powered speakers, I keep coming back to it for the power and clarity. It can totally be warmed up too. THe 46 just feels more upright like and omni dimensional.

What Preamp are you using?

I’m noticing that my great little cab is buzzing at moderate vol levels.
I contacted the previous owner and he said his powered 18 buzzed a ton and he had to send it back for more glue and modifications that took forever so I’m not going down that rabbit hole.
Has anyone else experienced buzzing and found a way to modify their cabs locally?

I have a 4 - 5.5?
Bought used here.
When it arrived it was farting a bit and sounding like a blown speaker.
Previous owner said he had no problems.
Talked to someone at MAS.
Ended up taking it apart and found some loose glue or foam pieces rattling around in one of the sound chambers?.
Put it back together and all good.

Hey Kerry, a lot of times it's the grill. A home fix is to remove the grill and stack up some felt bumpers (like you'd put on the legs of a chair) so that it presses up against the grill. I'll see if I can find a picture.

I’ve got an MAS 16 and an MAS 18 cab bought new from Mike. Both arrived with rattles. On the 16, I had to open up the cab and take the speaker out. It’s held in by bolts threaded into a type of nut which “grabs” into the plywood that the speaker is mounted on. One of these nuts had come loose and was vibrating against the speaker magnet. I had to buy a new nut of this type at Lowe’s and epoxy it into the plywood. Kind of a pain to do, but easier than shipping it back to Mike. On the MAS 18, I just checked the tightness of all the screws on the outside of the cabinet and re-tightened those that were loose, which fixed the problem.
