You're suggesting that he learned good design and engineering practices from Talkbass threads?

OP that is one killer looking rig! Much envy!
I'm no expert, but from what I've heard from others having the cabs on that little foot stool prevents them from coupling with the floor. Setting the stack on the floor should make a significant difference in your sound.

I believe he suggested he learned what his customers were planning on using his rigs for and then applied good design and engineering practices learned elsewhere.
Actually, mixing drivers under the right engineering conditions allows for the exploitation of parameters that might be complimentary while avoiding (or designing around) the potential negative effects.

There is so much simplistic "edicts" espoused on this forum with regards to mixing driver sizes that if some folks would take the effort to educate themselves on the engineering behind radiating sound sources and wave theory, they might discover that there are ways to make parameters appear different than their physical attributes might suggest. For example, the whole beaming versus driver size argument so often put forth here... they completely ignore the cone and dust cap geometry and how these can and do alter the mid and higher frequency radiating pattern while APPEARING to defy the rigid rule of thumb so often applied here.

Science and engineering is multi-dimensional, VERY LITTLE is based on single variable functionality because if it did the world would be pretty boring and blah with little need to innovate.
 
Just for interest, what are you hoping the 15 will bring to your rig rather than a second more able 2x10?

@BassmanPaul is a smart tech...not sure of his resume....who constantly helps others here and seems to know where all the sparks go...as in knowledgeable regarding electronics, amps, speakers, etc.

@agedhorse is literally a design engineer for Mesa....and designed for several other reputable companies in the past. You are getting it straight from the horse's mouth....so to speak. ;)

That being said, mixing driver sizes can be a hot button issue here. Don't worry about it if your question starts a bar fight. We all hug and make up later. :thumbsup:

My credentials, for what it’s worth, is an EE degree that I’ve never worked under. It never affected the career I was enjoying when I received it and, on coming to Canada, I needed to go back to school for two years to “upgrade” the thing. Supporting a wife and two young kids in a brand new country this was something I could not do at the time. Then, as years went by, I never did do the schooling. Tube technology was still current and was part of my education. I did OK though, at times, the day job paid the mortgage and the band put food on the table. I ended up working in the power generation field. Thermal, Hydroelectric and Nuclear.

I have lived through three strokes and two Heart attacks. My memory sucks but I believe the vast majority of what I post here is correct and factual.

I bought my first bass in 1962.

There's a water heater on the other side of the wall, so the footstools are "just incase" the water heater should leak, I don't want to come home to water logged gear some day.
