New Cab: TecAmp s212

Its good. Articulate, rich, incredible tweeter integration. Goes from dub to hi-fi. Thick mids, deep lows. Very even. I haven't taken it to gig volumes but it feels like it can get loud. Very punchy.

I'm still breaking it in with a Mesa D800 and a Sadowsky. I will report back when I put it through its paces at rehearsal.

The lows are just great. Great separation, so articulate. It reminds me of a CN212, but more full down low.

I mirror your sentiments! And agree about the CN212 comment as well. I had the opportunity to A/B these two cabs out here in Germany and while they were similar, the Tecamp had a thickness in the low mids I preferred over the Berg. The Berg was so clean and clear it's like looking through a glass window of tone. The Tecamp is clean, but that thickness adds meat. I like bass tone with meat.

Is this s212 enough as a stand-alone? I would run it with a GK MB500... mostly in clubs and not the biggest stages. What do you think? All comments on the item very welcome

I see your point and it did cross my mind. But from what I can tell they just put a bunch of money into making the cabs here in the US. That kind of investment will live on.

Tecamp is fine, they have already been operating under the current model. Things did not change on Dec 31/Jan 1. Their products are still good.

It's actually quite clear. Thomas Eich is no longer a part of the company, but Glenn Kawamoto and others have the company moving forward, seemingly without a hitch. Glenn had a double booth at NAMM, the stuff still sounded killer, it's selling to players for less, and I have every reason to believe it will be around for a long time.

That being said, I very much like and respect Thomas Eich, and I am hoping for great things from his company as well. But I would have no fear as far as investing in TecAmp gear right now.

I do still have it and the 400d sounds great with it. My s212 is 4 Ohm so I get full power with the 400d. The s212 is a fairly neutral cab with broad, big bass. The 400d sounds like a tighter tube amp with big extended highs.

Mark, I acquired an S212 Classic (8 ohm) last week, partially based on your recommendation. I'm really digging it so far. The S212 Classic sounds great with my Demeter VTBP-201s-800D, but I like the cab a bit more with my Puma 900. I also acquired a TecAmp M212 (4 ohm) cab a few weeks ago, which I actually like a bit more with the Demeter. I'm curious…which tweeter setting on the S212 Classic is your favorite when using it with your 400D?

Glad you like the s212. As to tweeter settings it really depends on the bass and the music. I usually set the tweeter to whatever sounds good for the situation. With my Sadowsky I dial the tweeter in at 2. With a passive Jazz anywhere from off to second to last position, which brings out an active, boosted top end.

The M is thicker and more full in the low mids, the S is more clear and even top to bottom and sounds more integrated as a whole to my ears. I like the s better but the M puts out more volume
