cassanova and spector ray, i agree wholeheartedly with you on the actual vehicle not lookin like the concept. i have been a gm man all my life. they bring these concept cars to car shows to get peoples reaction. when somethings hot with the people two things happen. 1. they change it so much to meet production costs that it doesnt look anything like its concept. 2. they dont make it at all. remember the big bad chevelle of a few years ago? wheres that? what i am sayin in all my readin of this new camaro the execs say its gonna look like its concept. i reckon we all know better than to believe management.

My thoughts exactly.
I was excited at first when GM announced it would bring the Camaro back, but now I'm disappointed with what I see.
Imo GM's reputation for bringing back a nameplate is somewhat less than stellar. Cool cars like the Nova, Malibu and LeMans were brought back as wrong wheel drive garbage. More recently the GTO was a complete disappointment.

You are probably right, sad to say. But, I can always hope. I have owned several Camaro / Firebirds over the years. Loved every one of them.
The protos always look sweet, but GM never builds them to look exactly that way. I'm a huge Chevy fan, but I still think the Charger looks better.

Do be perfectly honest, I wish they would have gone with the second gen look of a 70-73. They based the facet lines of the new Camaro off the Cadillac CTS. Come on, GM. You've got all these designers and all you can do is copy off of other cars. On one hand, I can understand in keeping the costs of tooling and production down, but if they really, REALLY wanted to do something different, this would have been a prime vehicle to do it with.
I was thinking of buying a Grand Prix back in the 90's based on the concept vehicle, but when it came out, they had watered it down so much, I couldn't do it. Thus the GTO was born
I think Holden does a good job of mixing rear-wheel drive and styling all their own. Don't take a mix of Grand Am and Grand Prix and call it a GTO.

The only thing really good about that car was the powertrain, but agreed, way overpriced. GM, particularly Chevy is doing everything possible to protect the flagship Corvette. For a fraction of the price of a Corvette, the Z-28 was a heck of a killer. With a little bit of $$ and parts, they rivaled the Corvette. Threatening to Corvette, don't you think?

The GTO was the car to start the musclecar era. Thanks to John DeLorean (and some other disobedient souls at Pontiac) the public was offered an intermediate size car with a large engine, and that was the spark to start the flame.
Imo the GTO would have been better left as a memory of greatness, rather than being reincarnated as a rear wheel drive Grand Prix.

to cartoon lookin. spector ray, again i agree. the gen two camaro would have been a great car to update. but with the popularity of the 69 camaro bringin in big dollars on barrett jackson i think cheverolet is tryin to cash in as well. year one is makin complete 69 bodies as well. foose is also producin 69s.
Get an older Firebird or T/A that had the LT1 engine and you've got the same engine as the older Vettes, only in an F body.
I like this one just a bit better.
This car to me looks like a culmination of the 60s, 70s, 80's and 90's Camaro's all rolled into one. Too bad the production models wont look like it when theyre released.
I saw/sat in that one on Hot Rod Power Tour. I'm NOT a chevy guy, but that was nice.
Most later gen F-bodies had corvette or at least corvette-inspired engines. Due to bays and such, some small things had to be changed.
