New Carvin Vanquish Basses

I have not. He said it felt like 8 pounds or less----is gonna try to get it weighed.

Yeah, just yesterday I saw and considered buying a less than 8 pound, 5 string G&L MJ5 with empress body. but then I was like----Carvin, duh!

That sounds about right - a local shop has a really purty empress L2500 that's slightly under 8lbs. It looks remarkably similar to ash, especially with any sort of tinted finish.

Any idea how much they're charging for this? I have absolutely no idea how much empress wood costs.

empress is supposed to be easy to grow and grows very fast. I would guess its probably a true option 50. but that is just a guess.

the MJ5 i was looking at had some ash-like grain, along with some light streaking; similar to koa or a lightly streaked limba.

I was looking at that exact bass on Reverb.com 2 days ago. Had to keep going, after drooling a bit. I told myself "no more basses this year!" Congrats man it looks beautiful, and from the sellers posts that bass was practically new. Ok I'm a little jealous.
