Why didn't you use the 3 year warranty Thomann give on all products ?

I said before this post is about a pedal not bashing company with very well regarded customer service. If you don't want to discuss the pedal ? fine you'll just go on my ignore list.

When the pedal costs €40 and it costs €23 each way to ship it, and Thomann won't pick up either way, their warranty isn't worth very much is it?

And is how is talking about a brands past crappy build quality combined with the company that backs it having bad customer service not relevant to the thread?

Harley Benton makes crappy gear that tends to fall apart. Thomann doesn't have a warranty that is realistic to their products. So if something goes wrong, good luck. There are so many great preamps out there - buy one of those.

Just keep on wasting your money on products with a famous name stamp on for all I care, it serves you well!

Also never had any problems with Thomann, and Harley Benton products seem to be of surprisingly good build quality considering the price.

What about the gain knob ? Be a week or so before I get mine back, phantom power was faulty. As I waited a few weeks to try it with a different mixer it passed the 30 days return. Contrary to someone's warranty experience mine went like this.
Email to Thomann saying the pedal was faulty. Thomann replied with pre-paid return label to print off. Just boxed it up and handed in at post office.

Will withold any smilie faces until unit is returned.

That runs contrary to my two issues with them. Two separate things, one is their house brand. Their email reply "we have no record of you having made this purchase". Twice. Needless to say, my honeymoon with Thomann is over.

Harley Benton pedals are most often Joyo rebranded ones. Alternative sources may exist

The only Joyo bass preamp is the Dr J Sparrow.

The Bass Expander is definitely not a re-badge Dr J, mine is plugged in next to me ATM Nor is the BE a Mooer or Hotone B-Station. I really must try the Hotone

The rest of the low cost Asian firms like Caline,Donner and Rowin have yet to release a bass Preamp/DI

The Moen Buffalo Bass ( Bottom drawer 3ft away) has sweepable mids and headphones out but no blend or compression.

Search of Ali Express for Bass preamp/DI turned up nothing but did cost me £23. Meideal Octaver bought in hope it's a Mooer Tender in disguise

Truthfully it doesn't compare well but bear in mind I can't A/B the Moen and HB pedals just now.My HB is back with Thomann because the phantom power doesn't work. @BassikLee has one so I hope he pipes in with his thoughts.

First thing is it's not a tru-bypass,you need the gain up full when it's switched off. 2nd thing is the EQ knobs on mine are cut/boost.The "Cut" kills those frequencies dead. Doesn't say that in the 1 page spec sheet. This is why I hope BiL joins in, mine could be faulty. Forebye the Blend & Compression there's also no Line-In nor the Input switch.

The Gain seems to give more grit than the BE. I wasn't looking for grit from the BE and I knew there was no Blend?compression etc on the Moen so I view them as 2 separate tools.

The Moen is more like the Behringer BDI only with Mids and headphones It only costs slightly more than the Behringer.

I don't have one. I didn't order it as part of my last order, and with them TWICE denying any record of having sold me stuff that later failed, I'm kinda done with Thomann.

Thomann don't sell the Moen Buffalo Bass so mine came from Ali Exp. A return to China for a £32 pedal is an experience I'll pass on.
