If they tasted like bacon, we'd all get lung cancer.

We need pictures of morbidly obese people on doughnut boxes.
I completely disagree with these labels. Why are we trying to save human lives anyway? I say let people smoke if they want to, and let them die. The world's getting more crowded by the day; at least let the people who refuse to take care of their bodies free up resources for those who do.
It's just not a quick death, rather an expensive lingering that they do.

Sure, if you think lung cancer treatments are free.Healthy people are doing the same exact thing.
This gets back to your question of why the labels are there to try and prevent them from smoking in the first place. That's the other recourse.True, but you really didn't expect me to propose shooting these people when they take their first puff, did you? Plus, I'm certainly not going to wish them well, so the only recourse is to "let them die," whenever that may be.

I work in healthcare and I can tell you unequivocally that type 2 diabetes (the kind you eat yourself into) is a much greater scourge on healthcare dollars than smoking. Nobody wants to say it because it's not nice to label fats but it's perfectly acceptable and politically viable to crap on smokers.
