New Conklin Website!!

Yeah but I assume they paid someone to make a site and for the amount of money they paid for that flash they could have cut down down on the BS and made a much more appealing site. Some of the nav images are cut short on roll over, the columns don't feel right. The header is weak. I would figure the folks at Conklin to have more of an eye for design considering how amazing their basses look. They don't even have a contact form just an email address.... I'm tempted to re-design this site just for fun...maybe email them a jpeg and be like "build me a new bass and this site can be yours."
Look at http://www.ampeg.com/ it screams "high quality, professional products!" not because their product is better because the site looks "clean." Conklins new site is the website equivalent of wankery...Ampegs is smooth groove deep in the pocket.
I dunno, I guess being in the industry has made me rather critical. Also I've seen Conklin's print catalog and it was very nice and certainly more professional looking.
Buy mine, tough nipples!
I'm sad. My old Conklin was one of the feature basses on the 5-string page. It's nowhere to be found on the new site. Poo on that.
As much as I've loved every Conklin I've ever owned, their resale value is beyond horrible. I see every other established luthier's custom work going for high coin, I couldn't get $1,200 for mine. It's insane.
Me too. I'm sporting serious wood right now. I'm holding off on getting a Conklin until I can afford a 9-string.

Hey Mark, 18mm. There's a FS thread up for it, if you're curious. I don't want to derail too badly.
I thought so too, but I've seen basses got for double the coin and more. I don't get it.
Looks like the same bridge and headstock cut that are on my GT-5 so I would assume the string spacing is the same...It's pretty tight... 16mm according to a quick TB search.

I are dumb for jumping in and getting the question wrong to boot.

lol. It's got an ABM bridge and is 18mm. I also have a GT-5. They are (I think) 16 or 16.5. Pretty tight. Those bridges are on many Korean instruments, including the GT's, Corts, etc.

I wondered that same thing.
The last I heard, the GT line was comming back to the US; but with a higher price point. I guess that idea was scratched.
I heard they were getting revamped. I was really eager to see the new and improved ones... Disappointing to see the same old listed though. They are great basses, but I wanted new eye candy

I think the new design is pretty ugly, but I love all of the pictures of new basses, and stuff. So it's a trade-off. I just feel like the old site was less cluttered at made a much more effective use of 'space.' I see spade2you's bass on the second page, and a few others I recognize.
