Double Bass New Dinky Big E cab: MA16

This is interesting! I've owned several cabs built by (TB pariah) Mike Arnopol over the years, and loved all of them. I miss my composite Crazy8, but happily haul my MAS26 for bluegrass, jazz and country gigs. I'd love to check out this new one for the drummless gigs. Mike has never steered me wrong when it comes to DB cabs.

I think you need to sign up for the Big E forum to see this:

THat is my next cab. I've been pining for a 26 because the 46 for upright sounds great, just ridiculously great but it aint a one schlep to the car cab. But with this so many duo gigs would be covered. I cant wait to get one.
That with the new Clarius SL will be sick.

I played the MAS46 last night at one of my regular gigs (Remic and Pickup into HEadway and Focus) I had the volume on 1 or 2 and was blasting the audience. I had a kid sit in for a tune and was totally amazed at how loud and present and acoustic sounding this box is. The point is that I think the MAS16 is going to be loud enough for a lot more then it might appear on first blush. I know it would have worked there last night. (especially if the MAS stuff likes to be pushed...I have never even come close to pushing my MAS 46)
Why was Mike banned from TB? That seems kind of weird, he offered more information then 9/10 of everybody else.

big learning curve with it but....I discovered that a little goes a long way. Mixing just a bit into a pickup like the Underwood adds the Remic's fantastic mic warmth and breadth to a pickup that is not particularly trying to be an acoustic Image of the Bass. THe mic does pickup a fair bit of what bounces off the surface of the instrument, but the StNR is really strong so a little does a lot.

StNR? What am I missing?

I don't know exactly why he was banned, something in the Big E Quadraphenia thread on the BG side. From what I can gather from his posts on the Big E forum, he claims he got a lot of complaints to mods from his competitors, and feels he was unfairly targeted and scrutinized for everything he posted, thoughe felt like he was being very careful to stay within the commercial user rules. Who knows?

I can't find it on his site. What are the specs?
I don't think Mike's site is up to date. Click the link in the original post above. Here's what he says about it:

"4 or 8 ohms. Maybe 150 watts power handling. Think of it like a single 10 like the Wizzy 10. I like my cabs elevated but this one sounds really nice on the floor with the 3"er pointing up. $500."

"MA16 practice/dinky little cab. One custom 6.5" Eminence and one 3" Faital mid/tweet. 13 1/2" deep by 14" wide by 8" tall.
12 1/2#. Keeps up with 10" driver cabs like the Wizzy 10. Same low extension as all of the 6's."
