New DR neon strings

The orange ones are less "clanky" and slick than the Elixirs on my Ric. More perceived tension too, and generally pretty nice. Now I have to get this bass dialed in (it's super sensitive to temperature changes, which we have had a lot of this past week)

Hooray for the first online review of NEON!! I love the 80's reference too....

Hah yay, I have achieved something! I'll go a lil more indepth for you and others:

I've never been a hard to please string guy - I've gone through a bunch of brands over the years and I liked a lot of them, I have simple needs.... if it lets me make my noise I'm happy. So I am not good at comparing string brands/makes too well.

None the less, I do feel that they have a nice defined tone, feel sturdy and not like I'm going to rip the coating off, and are just plain ol fun looking. I'm going to have to get used to the fact that coated strings just feel plasticy to me, but there's not much you can do about that, and it's not too distracting when I really get into my groove.

With that said, my guitarists want sets as well, so you may have gotten some more customers ;).

The 50 gauge black beauties that I put on my spector american bolt on before I went to wooten woods 3 week bass nature camp snapped very soon and had a very trebly sound.
The smaller gauge fodera strings that I put on at the camp lasted much, much longer and even feel better. I still use em for the thick sound.

Need pics of the orange ones, i may wanna put them on my gecko when its done. Honestly im more interested in if they are using the new coating on the regular strings and if so will they have new packaging and what not. I can see people trying to sell old ones as new if they dont change stuff. I want the new coating on black beauties and red devils.

Well heres the answer straight form DR

"we no longer use the old coating anymore. Our new, durable, Proprietary, K3 coating will be on all the Neon strings and the Extra-Life strings. We will continue to use the same Extra-Life boxes... it will have the K...3 logo printed / a sticker will placed on all the boxes. We have been shipping the New K3 coating strings a little bit before the annoucement was made on 9/23/10 without the logo. You may check the inside flap to look for K3. We are working really hard on getting everything done for both our dealers, their customers and for everyone else."
