New Dunlop Bass Fuzz...

+1 I fully agree. Somebody mentioned the Pork Loin which is a terrific pedal that being said it's a bit a distortion swiss army knife. It does overdrive, distortion and it can even get into fuzz territory when push to the max.

I would like to see a super mild overdrive and this is a part of the market larger pedal builders have not been able to address properly. I have 5 overdrives currently but they are all from boutique builders and one of them is a prototype or a series of 1 depending how you look at it.

To me an ovedrive just adds a tad of dirt, rumbling in the background but stays subtle. A good ovedrives also should work well in front of other pedals, particularly a fuzz.

All that being said, I am thrilled to see another entry in the Fuzz category from MXR and can't wait to hear it.

More than any other pedal builders MXR has created a real selection of pedals addressing the need of bass players. You got to give them kuddos for that.

IMHO, I would disagree with your description of the Pork Loin. I think it excels at mild OD. Most people using it are using it for that it seems. I wouldn't use it for anything other than mild OD.

Yeah, I think the Pork Loin totally owns that territory. I use an Xotic BB for that duty, because I go for a little more 'modern' aggressive flavor, but if I wanted a mild OD with a more mellow 'vintage' tone I'd go to the Pork Loin right away. The PL also sounds great dimed, but it's fantastic in the 'just barely breaking up' territory.

Regarding the new MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe, I'm certainly interested in hearing it, though I'm not really looking for a new fuzz...but when does that ever stop me.....???

I loved the Blowtorch's sound too. Hated being stuck with an 18v power supply just for that one pedal... Now I'm back to considering adding it again, but have to factor in an extra $100 to the price to acquire a DC Brick to go along with it, or track down a separate 18v PSU...

I always heard it in my head as a Heavy Overdrive sound.

I never own an mxr pedal before, but I personally like the mxr bass d.i+. my zoom b2.1u has a distortion channel based on the mxr bass d.i+. also I personally like how the mxr el grande bass fuzz sounds more than the mxr bass blowtorch. personally I find the bass blowtorch to be a little farty sounding(sorry to say for those who own an mxr bass blowtorch). the el grande bass fuzz seems to have a pretty decent fuzz sound. it's interesting that mxr has design a new bass fuzz pedal. If they made sound samples for it, I would like to check it out.

Can you be a little more specific on the sound of this little guy? Any youtube videos of it up yet? I've got the synth fuzz sound pretty much nailed with the Red Ripper, but this brown beast would be right at home on my pedalboard, depending on what it sounds like.

He mentioned a few times that it sounds like a tonebender.

You could probably find some random clips on youtube or elsewhere for the Colorsound tonebender and bass fuzz ... or the Fulltone Sould Bender, and that would probably give you a pretty good idea.
