New Eden Module Preamp - anybody seen this yet?

Look pretty interesting. Curious what the price-point will be.



Module is a bass preamp pedal based on our Invalid Link Removed. It features the semi-parametric EQ section, as well as the Enhance EQ sweep, Bass Boost and switchable compressor. Module also includes three foot-switches to toggle the Mute, Enhance & Effects Loop easily whilst playing.

Use the Module to take your sound to the front of house, recording desk or your existing power amp, or use the headphone output and 3.5mm line in connectivity to rehearse without disturbing the neighbours. Module is the perfect travel companion.

I would imagine this will be more expensive than the WTDI pedal since it has more features. I'm not sure if it'll replace it or live alongside it aimed at two different types of players. I still have lots of questions about the module so I can't wait for reviews to start coming out. I wonder where in the chain the effects loop is located? Is it after the preamp before the compressor or before both? Would you need to run dirt pedals before the input or in the loop? With dual inputs there doesn't seem to be a way to have both an active bass and passive bass plugged in and switch between them a la Radial Bassbone. I'm interested in it for sure but the price needs to be right.

These are $199.00. They have an FX Loop In/Out switch, Enhance On/Off Switch and a Mute Switch.
The DI is switchable Pre or Post EQ with a Ground Lift and Pad.
It has a one knob compressor, Eden's Enhance effect and an Switchable FX loop
Aux In, Headphone Out, 2 - 1/4" Line Outs.
I bought the first one to arrive here last week, in a rush, because my tube preamp needs repair.
I took it out of the box and the 18V power sup[ply was bad. Fortunately, I had another 18V power supply on hand.
I took it to my gig and the EQ sounds great but the DI output is noisy as hell, even with no input and with the thing muted it's singing like a high gain distortion box. I ended up coming out of the other 1/4" jack and into a passive DI box and it was quiet.
The dealer I ordered it from called Eden and they agree that this is a bad unit but it will take 2 weeks to get another one.
On the other hand, the construction, fit and finish is excellent and the only real down is they are made in Vietnam which is still pretty 3rd world in the electronics business.
I love the way it sounds but if the new one has a noisy DI then I'm out and I'll buy something else.

Awesome. Good info Laklandplayer. Definitely keep us up to date on that DI output when you get your replacement unit. If it's also noisy that seems like a pretty big weak point for a device aimed at being your DI to the PA or for recording. How would you describe the overall tone of the unit? Is it warm like an older tube amp or is it more modern and punchy? Were you able to try any effects with it in the effects loop? I've used some pedals before that had pretty noisy effects loops.

The EQ has a lot of latitude and control, you can make it sound practically any way that you want. It has a nice tonality, it's not sterile or harsh like a lot of solid state preamps that I've played. I frankly didnt have time to try the FX Loop. The dealer told me to use this one until the new one lands so I may try to use the loop this weekend. I'll let you know.

I got the replacement pedal and it's perfect, no noise in the DI output and it sounds really good.

I found a much higher medical quality 18V Switching power supply online at Mouser:

And you have to buy the AC power lead seperately:
MFG Part No: AC-C7 NA CUI / AC Power Leads US HTS:8544499000 ECCN:EAR99 COO:CN

This gives it plenty of clean voltage and about 6 more feet of cable. The stock Eden power supply is a single space wall wart with a 3m cable, its pretty cheap and flimsy.

Overall the Terra Nova is an excellent and versitile unit.

I don't know, its not in any of the documentation. The stock power supply is 18V, 400 Milliamps, and 7 Watts. The one I bought is 18V, 1A, and 18 Watts, which is okay because the device will only draw the amount of current that it needs. The trouble that most people get into is either using the incorrect voltage (over or under voltage) or using incorrect polarity. The Terra Nova polarity is switchable to either + or - center pin. The supplied Eden adaptor is center pin + positive as is the one that I purchased. This would easily work with a Voodoo or a Trutone CS7 or CS12 with 18V output. The voltage range on the pedal is 15-18 Volts. I hope this helps.

I have the same problem. DI XLR is much noisier than the jack output. I will return it in the upcoming week.

Finaly found time to finish my selfmade pedalboard with the Eden Terra Nova as the centerpiece.

That's pretty cool. I wonder if it has the same gain stage issues that made me ditch my WTDI. I also wonder how it fits into the realm between the WTDI and the Eden Glow Plug, which seem like they would be a logical thing to create as a single unit.

I don't know about the Glow Plug, haven't seen or played on one yet (but I'm curious). But I've made a direct comparison with the WTDI and that's a totaly differend sounding device. The Terra Nova is far more a neutral sounding, a bit cold, HIFI-like. The Enhance function in de Terra Nova is not the same as in the WTDI. Actually it's less. It introduces more noise and has a nasal sound to it on extreme settings, and it's less warm than the WTDI. But the EQ of the Terra Nova is more versatile. The WTDI is more an effect with a distinct character. The Terra Nova is more a neutral preamp with many functions.

The DI of the Terra Nova is rubbish in it's post EQ setting, it introduces lots of noise, and less bass than the line output. Switched as a Pre EQ DI it's fine. I actually brought my first Terra Nova back to the store because of that, but the replacement unit I got has the same problem.
The compressor in the Terra Nova is rubbish too. I actually can't hear any difference with it on or off. While the WTDI has a very usable compressor. But I've the Markbass compressore for that. As a neutral preamp, FX loop, Tuner out and dry DI to the soundboard it's a great pedalboard centre piece. And as said, the WTDI is more like a sound sculping effect.

My Tera Nova is solid. For what they are, the enhance sounds good as does the compressor.
Instead, I'm using a Keeley Bassist Compressor and a BBE Sonic Stomp for Enhancement. Those have been my "go to" pedals for a long time and always work well for me.
It has an excellent hi-fi EQ section and the bass boost is useful.
My DI is clean pre or post, but the first one I had wasn't and I took it back.
I did purchase a high quality filtered 18V power supply for this one and maybe that is why this one sounds clean.
For $200.00 the Tera Nova is a good, portable swiss army knife preamp/eq.
Abe Laborial is using one in the studio and it seems to work well for him.
