New Fender American Standard Dimension Bass

Anybody else seen this? Pretty cool. Haven't been able to find any information on these besides this page on Sweetwater. I like the concept of the Dimension with passive electronics. Might have to check one out.

Besides the obvious made in the US instead of Mexico or elsewhere, these are passive instead of active. Different pickup than the Modern Player version.

No, I haven't seen these passive versions. I have the American Dimension IV HH active. Interesting, because I 've never been a fan of the active pup sound.

The pick-ups. The Modern player has a single 3 bar pick-up that's the size of an EMG-35. It also only has a volume and a 4 way rotary switch for tonal options.

This bass is dual pick-ups, proprietary housing, with your standard VVT layout for controls.

And Music Man & G&L didn't want to use Fender style pick-ups on their basses at first...and Spector, and Danelectro, etc...I could go on & on, but you get my point.

The Modern Player & American Standard are passive. The rotary switch on the Modern Player is all passive. I haven't opened one up, but I believe they just use a few different capacitors.

The Mexican Deluxe & American Deluxe are active (and have the same pre-amp as the Active Jazz in their series).

99% of active basses are equipped that way. This bass has no preamp. Just two pickups and a vol-vol-tone.
