The Black Top guitars are mexican and priced around 450, so i'm guessing the basses will be mexicans also.

So, the P model will be a Big Block with an extra Humbucker? Hmmm... That could go either way I guess... The Big Blocks didn't do too well.

Edit - Pickup spacing is different from the Big Blocks.. The Black Tops look like they're down towards the bridge more with the neck pup in the P position sweet spot...

Still... Who are they trying to compete with for this one? Stingrays?

These don't really interest me at all but it would be cool to hear how they sound. The weird pickup configurations seem more like an attempt to be unique than to sound good, but that may be a harsh judgement to make. I guess we'll see when they hit the racks and people start posting audio samples.

Verrrrry interesting. I'm a P bass guy and I've long been interested in dual P bass pickups, but I've never had the chance to try a bass with them. Now I will, so thanks to Fender for that.
