Other then the neck blocks and binding, is there anything that makes it different from other P-Basses? I have a 70's Classic Jazz, and it's become my favorite bass because the neck profile is significantly fatter than any other Jazz I've played.
What is really interesting is that in the 70's Fender Precisions had dot inlays. Still, its a sharp looking bass.

Were there ever blocks on stock P-Basses? I can't remember seeing one like that ever, unless someone swapped a Jazz neck onto it. Maybe that's it...a tribute to the very popular mod for P- bassists who like J- necks?

Does that mean that this neck is the same size as my Stratocaster neck? I think it also has a 9.5 radius.
The only production Fender P-bass that had blocks and binding comes out of Fender Japan.

Maybe hotter pickups? The 70s P Basses, if I recall correctly, had hotter pickups.
The radius just refers to the curvature of the fret board. There is also nut width and neck shape and thickness (C, U, or V) to consider.
Well if they're the quality of the MIM RW series.... I'm still blown away by my RW P.

As I posted in the other thread (where it was mistakenly said to be a Pawnshop series), this seemed to be a fairly popular mod in the late 70s/early 80s. Watch VH1Classic when they're actually showing 'classic' videos, and you'll see a bunch of bassists who put the BNB maple jazz neck on their sunburst Ps. (Ian Hill from Judas Priest in the 'Heading out to the Highway' video comes to mind, but I've seen a few other bassists from that era with it, and all of them seemed to use sunburst P bodies...Go figure)
Of course, I can't see why they're using the current neck specs on a 'Classic' series bass though...
