New Fodera!

BassSaxMan, I have been thinking the same thing that you wrote for quite a while now. I guess some people just prefer to be brutally honest. I will say that i've never been a big fan of single cutaways, but they may be growing on me. To be honest, i've never played one though.
But, once again, great looking Fodera, i'll bet it sounds fantastic.

Andrew,

Your bass is beautiful. It's a very classy/clean looking wood combination. Best of luck with it.

I've never seen a Fodera with a string-thru-body bridge. Did you request that specifically? How do you like it?

Is that a Hipshot, thru body bridge? I didn't think Fodera would stoop so low

Well I kinda took the no holds bared approach. This is a 33 inch scale five so I really wanted to give the b all the advatages some people say the headsock thing is crap other swear by it same with body through stringing. I figured more is more if it dont hurt it;)

I'm not sure who made the bridge I think its the same bridge thats on the NYC basses.

Does it work? Well Ive never own a five before so I realy dont know that much . Also I'm learnig the feel of how to play the string to get the best tone out of it.

I does sound nice though played finger its even right down to the B. Slapped I cant get the kind of sound Adrian got on that post with his F bass but mabe after I try it a bunch and put a new string on there. it got a 130 on there now Ill try a fodera 135 and see of things change for the better. alot of peaple talk up Labella B's Ill try one of those too.

Thanks for all the feed back guys

It's a very classy/clean looking wood combination

Thanks thats what I was after.

Come on dude. If I see one more person say "Well I can't stand single cuts!" I'm gonna puke. If you don't like it just keep it to yourself! That's what I do when I am not fond of something. Share the love people share the love...

Actually I think single cuts are so vastly superior to double cutaway's that it might be a long time before I buy another double cutaway. Certainly my next few basses will be single's...

Don't worry WR that wasn't meant as a cut to you, you're a cool guy. I just don't see what the point of saying someone's bass looks bad when they just got it.

AJ was the thicker body an upcharge?

Why sweat it? It's an opinion, no more, no less. I was kind of surprised I didn't get any negative comments about my singlecuts... I don't mind. If everyone liked the same things that I did that might get them one step closer to being as cool and as smart as I am. I don't need that kind of pressure;)

Well Brad, though many may aspire, none will ever reach your heights of coolness. :) I think that recent quartet (or was it trio?) of basses (the elrick etc etc) solidifies that. :D

I was just getting sick of the negativity that seems to be brewing around here lately...seriously what's the point of saying how ugly or how much you hate the look of someone's bass? It's just plain rude. If people like what they got then I am totally happy for them regardless of my personal taste. That's all I'm sayin...

I hear ya, BSM, it's just the nature of the beast (and it's not "lately"). Everyone won't get the message and someone will always do it.

I get negative comments about my gear. Someone will come up to me and tell me how ugly my Zon is, etc. Guess what I do?

I say "thanks".

My feelings can't be hurt by something as subjective as that.

I agree with your comment about negativity. The value in this site is that you can share ideas and opinions and learn from other people's experiences. Which is a really great thing for musicians to be able to do. It's a shame when it becomes a forum to "slam" others. Although, I do think the majority of users do have the right intentions with the site; Hopefully the rest will come around!:)

Unfortunately one man's opinion could be another man's slam... happens quite a bit around here.

Update!

Deffinetly getting better at controling the bass.Starting to get compliments again on my tone. I was listening to Marcus's Tales just now and while My bass doesnt do it exactly (no single coils or Bolt on) in single coils mode its close Real close. Cant wait to try the mute thingy its ugly but for a latin ensemble I play with it will be Ideal. No More cut up sox in my bag (or foam when I actually have it)

AJ

Andrew,

The mute beats the hell out of that old piece of foam that a lot of us carry around in our gig bag. Plus, you can turn it off and on during a song without haveing to wait for a break in the set!

Yah, I'm Psyched! Livin in the future! so you can set it for 2 setting right? is it either just the B and then every thing or is it hard and soft mute every thing?

AJ
Andrew,
I'm one of those guys I was talking about with the piece of foam stuffed in his gig bag!!

I have used the mute on other basses before though. As I remember it, there are three settings: Off, half on, full on.

I believe each setting applies to all strings.
