Hi. I've been lurking for some time, gleening a lot of good info about bass guitar gear, and playing. I'm a fairly accomplished and experienced acoustic guitar player (for an amateur). For the last year and a half I've been trying to play some bass. I had an 80's Ibanez bass for years that I hardly ever picked up, and a Rumble 15 that I could play it through. This year, with a lot of reading on this forum, I've aquired a 5 string Charvel PJ, and a Rumble 800. My gear is probably overkill for where I will ever get as a bass player, but I decided to err on that side rather than wish I had bought better.
I'll probably continue to mainly lurk, but I decided it was time to register, and thank you people here for your help.

Welcome. You certainly have enough amp to take you a long way. We never know how far our journey with the bass will take us, but your gear is not going to be a limiting factor in yours.

At a minimum, when people see you play, they will be able to say "you certainly have fine equipment."

Look forward to seeing your pics and posts, and hearing about ideas on how to approach the bass. I do not think any two of us look at it exactly the same way?

Well, feel free to ask questions as you go, just be prepared to get many different and often conflicting opinions as the responses.

Well then, I can understand why you went with the 5 string and away from the Ibanez, which has narrow string spacing and limited range. You should be able to make good use of that plucking technique on the fiver. There are some excellent players who use that technique.
