New From Squier

Well well well huh. If this is anything like the quality of my 70's CV (avatar) then both these instruments are a game changer. The electrics and hardware, the flat top knobs and bridge on mine are heavy weight items...super quality. Would love to know the thinking over at Fender cause that Squier logo is now the new Fender logo...period.

As for the knobs, truss rod adjustment, screws and any other oddities regarding the instrument's appearance, could it be these are not photos of actual completed instruments? Being a CME exclusive, perhaps they just reached agreement with Fender on what the specs of the instrument would be. Fender kicked out quick pictures (Photoshopped?)

Definitely a photoshop mock up. Zooming in it looks fake, such as all the screw heads rotated the same.

the bridge is modern. look at the saddles. it doesnt show anything on the headstock for there to even be a truss nut there. The AO have a "marking" on the headstock for where the nut would be even though its at the heel.

But the White Blond is ash looks great and shows good amount of grain like my AO does.
Throw in some Pure Vintage 63s and you are pretty close to this.

I played one of the '54 Paranormal J's when I bought my 70's CV, and it just didn't have the same wow factor to me. Fit and finish were all fine, but sound just wasn't there; it was the classic "meh" J sound I expect from a lot of budget instruments. The CV had something in there that made me want to take it home right away, and I'm super glad I did!

The links are gone now but I managed to see the white blonde and I still prefer the sunburst. The two-tone tobacco sunburst is actually beautiful. It's the 3-tone with red that I don't dig so much.

5 dollar problem. Man that looks nice. Considering the quality of the Squier Affinity Jazz I bought recently, I can't imagine this isn't a serious winner.

That is a great looking bass. I see more and more Squiers right around the $500 mark these days.

It's got nothing to do with country of manufacture really. I just prefer the feel and sound of the more expensive instruments.

I'm considering the late 50's WBL precision bass, the only thing that's a bummer is that so far the neck specs are the same as for the 60 and 70's CV basses, only new is the color/pickguard and maple fretboard. Maybe asking too much at this price point, if they could provide some variations it would be nice.

Me too. May order one just to see but I wished the neck was a D or fat C. Cause it's too slim on 70s models.
