Hercules stands are generally safe for nitro finishes though, that is what I use with mine and I haven't had a problem. If you are going to invest $1000 in a bass you might as well invest another $50 in a stand to protect it.

So true. I owned a music store years ago when every finish was nitro and the only stands and hangers were rubber padded. Had to discount quite a bit due to "hanger" damage of the finish. Finally started having terry cloth covers made for the rubber parts and that stopped the damage.

I just saw Gov't Mule (one of my favorite bands) on Conan and the bass player was playing a black EB. It sounded absolutely great, and the song featured verses that were just drums and bass so you could hear it really well. I don't know when they will post the clip on the web page (teamcoco.com) but it should be within a couple of days.

Yeah, I just saw that and have to agree that Jorgen Carlsson got a very badass tone from the EB. I'll be checking one out for sure!

Is the front of eb texture finish as well? Hard to tell from the pics even on sweetwater. On there the front looks smooth but you can see the grain on the back picture. Trying to figure out what finish to get, natural if the front is textured, if smooth then I'll get the fireburst.

Thanks for the answer that's what I needed before I ordered online. Not one music shop out of 9 within 35 miles of me had one. All of them thought I was mistaken and must be talking about the eb 0. Oh well.

OT but I agree! Actually, I've found that the ash body Am Dlx models, contrary to what I would have guessed, are the lightest of the bunch. Didn't have a scale with me but remember thinking one at local GC was particularly light. Unfortunately, not my fav color combo.

I dig mine. Great weight. Lots of tonal options. But, is anybody else experiencing a weird choral effect beyond the 12th fret? Especially on the E and A strings? I intonated everything as close as I could and that didn't help. When I lowered the pickups to see if that helped, the intonation went way flat. So I intonated again. No help. Raised the pickups and the intonation went way sharp. It can't be just just me. I also changed my E string to see if that would help, it didn't. What's going on?

I would think it's a pickup height issue. I haven't had that issue with my new EB Bass, but need to make a height adjustment to even out the volume level between bridge and neck pickups.

A few months ago, I made some adjustments to the action on my Music Man and caused the wavering note effect on the upper frets. Took me a while to figure out what aspect of the setup was causing my issue, but I got it all corrected now.

Actually now that you mention it I did have to lower my neck pickup a bunch. I guess it was to get rid of "wolf tones". Yeah, until those are gone you will struggle with harmonics. It's been fine since i set it up...

I I've heard of that happening before when a string gets twisted while it's being wound on to the peg head. Meaning, If you stick the end of the string in the tuning key and then wind the string around the peg by hand instead of keeping the string slightly tensioned by hand while you turn the key, it can cause the windings to slightly loosen up. It causes a chorusy sound exactly like you described.

Try taking off the string and then reinstall it keeping the string slightly tensioned and using the tuning key to wind it up and I'll bet that fixes it. The few times I have run into that problem that has always worked for me. If not my guess is that the string is damaged from being improperly installed.

Let me know if that takes care of the issue.

I'm noticing this too and it has me concerned. I'm going to try installing a new E string and adjusting the pickup heights tonight. I'll report back here. If I can't address this it may be a deal-breaker for me. :crying:
