I like the look of the 2014 over the 2017.

Me also. Will keep an eye out over the next year. I'm not even sure that they were officially released in Australia. Though I know of at least 2 here.

I think I like the 14 fractionally over the 13, that red is lovely. Wouldn't quibble on either though.

If I can find a 2012 built 13... Can I claim it as a 50th Bass? (1962+50).

I really wish they kept making the 2014 EB. In black it looked like a bass that Porsche would make if they made instruments.

The new one isn't anything I'm interested in. Too generic, looks like any Korean factory bass.

The 13/14 sort of reminds me of the PRS Kingfisher. Any one ever compare them?
(I gassed for one of those (the PRS) until I had a try. It just felt wrong to me somehow so I put it back on the rack. Didn't even plug it in.)

I just compared a 2013 and 2014. The 2014 does have a smoother finish. On the 2013 you can see (at certain angles) and feel some of the ridges in the wood, while that's not really the case on the 2014.

I'd say I prefer the 2013 for this extra character, but it's such a minor difference on the two I compared that to me there's effectively no difference. Especially if you factor how easily these thin finishes ding or show play wear, which is another aspect I adore that many deplore, there'll be character to your bass no matter which model year it is provided you put much effort into playing it.

EB 13/14 sighting: Aussie Carols By Candlelight - Sheppard bassist with a white (cream?) EB. She also plays a white EB3/SG (on Geronimo film clip I think).

I just saw two 2017 EBs at a music shop.
I totally confirm my first impressions. Also, the body looks small compared to the neck, it looks kinda modern (headstock apart) and it doesn't really say "Gibson" looking at it.
