Double Bass New gk mb112 vs old gk mb112s?

Into the front of the MB200 isn't nearly as good as into the aux input. It doesn't seem to overload the input as much as lose clarity. The GK is pretty scooped and doesn't sound as good to me so I'd rather bypass it.

When I used the Headway EDB-1 into the front end of either of my Walter Woods amps it was overpowering, so I ran it through the effects return, bypassing the Woods EQ section. I could see where using it into the GK MB112 pre EQ would just be sending a good pre amp voicing into a preamp voiced for Bass Guitar. Just my opinion though.

Although I wasn't having a problem with the level of the Headway overloading the input to the MB112, it does make sense to avoid duplicate preamp stages. In practice it worked fine (including the tone), but I'll sure try bypassing the MB pre.

It's such a low-end, basic combo that it doesn't even have an FX loop; but it has an aux-in via an 1/8" jack -- I'll try plugging the Edb-1 into there, soon as I get a chance.

We'll see if that detours the combo's inherent bass guitar "voicing". (Of course, the speaker part of it is by no means hifi, itself; there'll be no getting around that voicing.)

I have an mb150s and a MB112. I prefer the 112. It has more low end and is louder. I prefer the eq on the MB150.

Glad you were able to fix the MB150, I have a real emotional attachment to mine. So many gigs......

Do you use it for double bass? I wonder which one is better for upright, the mb150 or the mb112! Thanks
