New Green Russian Big Muff by EHX!!

I like muffs. Is it worth looking at if I already have a Bass Big Muff Pi V11, or is it too similar?

The Bass Big Muffs are actually more similar to the vintage Black Russian Big Muffs than the Green Russians (despite the green packaging).

I've spent a decent amount of time comparing this new Green Russian Muff to the Bass Big Muff. The Green Russian I'd say is more aggressive and heavy than the Bass Big Muff. Bass Big Muff is a bit smoother. The Green Russian doesn't have the blend switch (knob on the Deluxe Bass Big Muff) but I find it doesn't really need it. The Green Russian is very punchy, even without a dry blend.

I actually am replacing the Deluxe Bass Big Muff on my personal board with one of these. I highly recommend trying one out.

Does it sounds like the original though?

From my understanding, one of the reasons it's hard to emulate the old green muffs is because they were made using parts that are now discontinued. Actualy, if I remember the story correctly, they were just thrown together with any old parts, which is why the sound between the green muffs can vary. May be thinking of another pedal though

They said the bass big muff was meant to emulate the original black big muff but, to me, sounds nothing like it. They say they tinkered with it but I have the opinion that they couldn't get close so they just sold it as it was and used the story it was to emulate the black muff for marketing purposes.
