New GSR 200.... available BBN4 III

I just bought a GSR200 new for $160. I've played guitar for 13 years and decided i wanted to pickup some bass skills for jamming and rounding out my general guitar resume.

Anyways I've had this guitar for a week, no complaints really except fret ends and iffy preamp (distorts when cranked up, and not sure about 'phat eq') but that's to be expected on a low end guitar.

However, I have an opportunity to trade if for a Yamaha BBN4 III (passive) for an additional $40. I like it, feels nice, comes with a bag. I'm more familiar with passive electronics (i'm a tele guy). And its alder, not agathis..... etc

Should i keep the GSR200 and $40, are there advantages to the active preamp? Or should i go for the Yamaha?
