Hello all,
Just wanted to drop a quick line to say hello. I've been taking advantage of Talkbass' bottomless pit of information for awhile now, but had never signed up for a membership (well I finally did).

I've been playing bass for 27ish years. I started in high school, on a Fender Jazz. Then I went to college for music (electric bass was my primary instrument), where I toured for 2 summers (72 shows in 11 weeks, one summer). I gigged 3-4 times a week during college. Then in the great words of Bryan Adams (as my kids like to remind me), I took on the role of Jody.

Well, 19 years later, I'm still married and have 4 kids. I took a long break from music while I served in the Navy and raised my kids. But now I'm trying to make music a part of my life again. I'm playing my first gig since 2001 in February (playing bass and directing the pit for Momma Mia at the local High school)

I've owned several different basses throughout my lifetime, but I've been an Ibanez man ever since I got a SR800 back in the 90s. I am currently playing an early 2000s SR900, which for my style and stature is about as perfect I can imagine. I've always strived for a warm classic bass sound that punches through the low end without sounding too aggressive (Geddy Lee/JPJ knew where it was at). I've played Roto swing bass 66 (nickel) strings for over 20 years, and I still love the sound.

I love reading this community's suggestions and info on gear/setups/etc. it really is a great help. Talk to you all soon!
