New Guy (my compressed story)

I lurked on here for a couple days and decided i should join:)

Im 28 and decided to pick up the bass again after 5 years! i did play guitar growing up. I would play for hours with my friend blake that was one of the best bass players i ever knew. But he decided to take his life when he was 17. Our band fell apart and i moved to Kansas shortly after when my father passed.

I picked up the bass in 2001 because i was always facinated with it and figured i would be a good way to carry on part of my friend. I went into full force and got my chops up. And played with a few bands. but they never lived up to what i wanted. or fit my style(Metal).

i put down the bass in 2007 and didnt play at all till 3 days ago. Me and the wife just had our first kid 7 weeks ago. and she has been asking me if i was going to teach him to play. because she missed me playing. So im getting back into it. and got to say im like a kid again. fingers hurt like crazy but still want to play non stop. lol

GEAR:
Ibanez SR500, SR506
BNX3 pedal board (i know alot of people dont like prcessor pedals. But i love this one)
Carvin Pro cabs 2X 410's

No head unit right now sold my old Trace Elliots years ago.

Long winded but hope to learn some stuff. and help on here.

Man, what a sad story. :( I picked up bass because my father took his life a year ago, and he was an avid guitarist and bassist. I hope you get good at it. :)

thanks. I played the guitar for many years. and then went to bass. i can tell i lost a lot of skill, speed, and cordnation. lol but hope to get back to where i was in time.

Sorry to hear about your friend from so long ago, but you are here. Hold onto that woman who says "I miss hearing you play." That can be a rare thing.

I'm new here as well, but have been playing for the last 20 years or so. Wish you and your family the best!
