Hello All,
I have been a lurker now for several months and finally decided to take the plunge.
I started playing bass casually about a year ago to support my son who was taking guitar lessons. He took a hiatus from guitar (that is how we're choosing to view it) and I hadn't really done much with the bass.
Some of my co-workers were discussing their musical interests one day. Several of them had guitars, but they really started freaking out when they found out that I had a bass. Apparently, just having a bass can make you popular fairly quickly.
I went to a couple of jams and I was hooked, but of course discovered that I had a lot to learn. I started taking lessons from a local instructor and I'm really having a great time with it. I hope to get up the nerve to play a real gig soon.
As far as bass gear goes, I currently have 2 basses, an Ibanez SRX2EX2 with a hipshot D-tuner and a Schecter Raiden 5. I'm looking to turn those around soon and get a (used) G&L L-2500 Tribute, if I can find a good deal on one. I sold a Peavey TNT115BW and a few other things recently to get a GK MB212 that I think is just great. I tend to play some hard rock stuff like Foos, STP, AlterBridge/Creed, Guns n Roses etc, but will give anything a try, especially if I can learn from it.
I look forward to learning a lot here at TB.
Thanks,
BassLifter
