New Head: Valkyrie from Baer Amps... Thoughts?

I like hybrid amps with two tubes... I've been using a M-Pulse 600 for quite a number of years now (I'm overdue for a switch-up) and the Valkyrie reminds me a little of the M-Pulse 600 in terms of how it's structured... two tubes, EQ section, class A/B, etc.

I'm really looking forward to its release this summer (gives me some time to save up some $$$).

Ok....it'll be some time before I'm looking for a new amp, but this one has me very intrigued. This looks to be an extremely well thought out piece of gear. I look forward to hearing about it after it's release. I hope you're able to get some of these out to the East Coast eventually. I'd love to check it out.

TB,

I had the pleasure to play this amp at Carey's booth. It's killer! I was really impressed with it's ability to do "solid state" and "tube" sounds very convincingly! It's quick, thick, warm, and big sounding.... I'd like to add this to my arsenal soon, but it may be a while.... This is an amp that will turn heads and ears.... Plus, Roger's cool... and if Carey Nordstrand likes it, it's got to be cool!

Yeah, unfortunately, Roger never got back to me based on the email I sent him from the Contact form on his website. Maybe it's not working, or maybe he just never replied, but I still have no pricing or availability info. I'll shoot him a PM here on TB; when I tried that before, he responded promptly.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to a few of you. We were in the process of working out some bugs with the site contact form and it seems a few emails got lost in the process.

Are there anythoughts of mirror imaged baffles being available? Looking at the opening page for those cabs, a single twelve would line up very well on top of a pair for a nice Small/Medium/Large combo. If the single twelve had a mirrorred baffle, the mid and woofer look liek they would both line up, as close as possible.

Hey Roger, no sweat. Thanks for replying to my PM though.

For everyone else, Roger said that they're targeting August as the release time frame, although the speaker line may be done a bit earlier. Sounds like pricing will be in line with the other heads that are out there with this size/power (Mesa, Thunderfunk).

Roger also shared a link with me with a small review of the Valkyrie: Invalid Link Removed

Hey Chimp,
We are considering putting some samples on the website in the future, but honestly, I find these type of clips to be very subjective. IMO, what you are hearing in most of these type of clips is the player and the instrument, string age and type, recording gear, etc...

Subjective, certainly. Still potentially useful for those of us who won't likely have one showing up in a nearby store to audition in person. Denver is a terrible place to live if you like bass gear more eclectic than GC's fare.

And the (lack of) quality in the speakers you're listening to them on, especially if they're computer speakers.

I would never!
