New Headless Dingwall!

Cool! I hope lefties will be available.

I've been posting lately that one of the best headless innovations in the past few years is a top mounted bridge tuning system like NS Designs or Riviera. This eliminates the traditional tuning knobs sticking out beyond the butt of the body, which required a notch or arch to be cut to recess the knobs and protect them from damage but often times made it difficult to turn the knobs. Good to see Dingwall adopt this new trend with what appears to be their own top mounted headless bridge design.

I totally agree that top mount seems superior! I actually have a custom Otto Bass on order with the Riviera hardware and I’m excited to see how it performs.

True enough, headless IS superior in most respects, but you still hear the "too ugly" knock.... from people who haven't played one. What's with the levers on the "headstock", string end clamps?
I think the fold out wings/levers on sides are to allow it to hang on Hercules style guitar stands. The long finger-like things do seem to be some kind of string clamp; no idea how that works though! I’m looking forward to hearing more about it.
If I can change the strings on a headless without an allen key then that would be amazing. That’s the only part of the design that’s a weakness for headless basses in my opinion

I think it’s sick! As a lover of headless basses (it’s the superior design) I think this is masterfully done. It looks like the string clamps might be able to be used without an allen key, and fold out “headstock” for hanging stands!

i think i will cricut black dingwall text logos to put on my ab1’s.

I bought an AB1 five string very early on, the passive one. Great sounding bass. I sometimes regret letting it go. Will likely get back in the Dingwall waters again at some point. The headless looks pretty darn cool.
Big Lee Sklar fan, which was one of my inspirations getting one. I never would have expected that Dingwalls would come to be associated with all these heavy music styles--it's rare to see a demo of one (or even DW's own marketing) where one is played with a straight up clean sound! I mean, at a certain point with all that dirt, it could be pretty much any five string bass with roundwounds and a bunch of OD/distortion slapped on!
