Double Bass New Headway preamp

I am in the US and preordered the new EDB-2 direct from Headway by getting in touch with John via [email protected]
The 18v of the current EBD2 is enough to drive the remic that I have as well as the ATM 350 condenser. No noise, no degradation. I was initially using a Rolls phantom power but it made no perceptible difference
Thanks for this. It used to be the other alternative for those who can't afford the Felix which includes moi. But with this design not so sure that's the case anymore. I emailed him and will get it as soon as it comes out.
Also the EQ on the EBD2 follows the british philosophy of EQ and I personally like the frequencies vs the Felix despite its parametric EQ.
Also the one EQ forced me to learn how to position the mic to EQ the sound. The belt clip was an added bonus as well. It had shortcomings and today sure I can pay for a Felix but the EBD2 despite its shortcomings worked for me better performance wise.

I remember Rick Jones telling me the the Schertler DYN-B wouldn't work from the phantom power on a Focus or Claris head from that period either. It's a complicated issue of things that all have to be there, for the Stat B to use anything but it's own
preamp/power source. The voltage and amperage of the Stat, have to be correct to get it to work. Where are the tech heads when you really would like them to come on.
*All I know for sure is the Stat B will work with the Grace Felix which provides 12 volts to the correct leads on the pickup. Whether or not it will operate correctly at 11 volts is
anyone's guess. One possible positive sign, is that the Stat Pre runs of a 9v battery.
I just got the Stat-B vintage and I am happy to report that my condenser mics, the ATM 350 as well as the Remic Red plus the Stat-B can be plugged in not requiring additional pre-amps or 48-V phantom power. The Stat-B is actually quieter using the EBD-2 (if you are using it alone) and is clearer
For the Mics, there is some hiss with the ATM 350 but that happens when the gain is over 4. I have mitigated it by wrapping the ATM-350's cable with - Tex-Flex but it just allows me to get past 5 with no hiss. The hiss will disappear with a 48-V supply (Rolls) but then there is also more gain that causes feedback earlier and I have to use the notch filter. So the 18V is actually enough for most live situations. For the Remic - yes a 48V supply made the mic a bit more hi-fii but also easily prone to feedback as you crank it. Even with the lower output from the mics, the current EBD-2 is enough to drive regular amps. I expect the updated version with 48 V will utilize the full frequency response of mics plugged into it. I do see why he opted for 18V. I hope that using step-up transformers on the new model will not create other unwanted noises
Sent an email but no response. But with everything that's going around, I am not in a hurry anyway. Gig cancelled this week but used the current EBD-2 last week with this setup.. I really like how my DB was amplified.
I'm going to wait a bit before ordering one as there can sometimes be unexpected issues, with the first run of a particular device. There were definitely issues with the first run of the Headway EDB-2. What I will say is
that manufactures in Poland and Hungary produce quality products. The CRM NS basses are built there. Headway was great about fixing the issues with the EDB-2's and changed over the microphone input jack and Channel pots
as soon as they found out there was an issue.

He has NOT replied at all. I'll follow up. I do not mind being the tester. He is very good regarding customer support so I do not mind taking one for the team. ready to get one now if available.
My team at work, half are in Poland. Great and brilliant guys/gals. Also the Medusa synth I have is from Poland. really done well even though mine was a first run.
He is usually very quick to reply. I guess things are a bit stirred up now.

This sounds very promising. It has to be longer to accommodate the additional Channel 2,EQ section. Somewhere on the original EDB-2 thread or another posting someone knew the designer for the EDB-1 & EDB-2.
