Great! I’m hoping I can use the new EDB2 to blend a condenser mic on it’s channel 2 with a Stat B on channel 1, and the 11 volt phantom power means I won’t need the Stat B preamp

You’ll want to check on how the power is sent from the Headway to the StatB. I remember that the internal jumpers on the Grace Felix have to be switched around to get the correct polarity for the pickup to power up.
Here are physical dimensions from the old manual. I suspect the new version's second row of EQ knobs will add up to half an inch on the length, or about six inches total.

I have compared the images to the old EDB-2, and the proportions are the same. Unless they have changed the size of the controls, it's probably a bit wider and longer (the master button on the new one is in line with the EQ buttons).
Looks like the fit will be perfect for my Nano+ pedal board. Headway/blend (turned sideways) --> Sonic Research ST-300 mini (also a "mute" point) --> Noble tube preamp/DI --> etc.

Looks like a solid offering! I loved both the EDB 1 and 2 I owned, but the noise floor from the lack of phantom power drove me nuts! Glad they finally sorted that!
If you are sending the headway to another preamp/amp combination it should work out. If you are sending the headway straight to a power amp the signal may be low. I tried phantom from my Focus to power my Stat B without an external pre and the signal was low and without much body to the sound. I found I prefer an external preamp into the Focus pre.

Happy New Year, yeah I rember that John Littler of Headway was "adimant" that 18 volts was all you needed, to drive the DPA 4099B's, but if you had to up the volume, then you eventually heard the hiss kick in. The Audience likley
never did, because any FOH system, with a decent sound tech, can just filter those frequencies out of the mains.
I remember Rick Jones telling me the the Schertler DYN-B wouldn't work from the phantom power on a Focus or Claris head from that period either. It's a complicated issue of things that all have to be there, for the Stat B to use anything but it's own
preamp/power source. The voltage and amperage of the Stat, have to be correct to get it to work. Where are the tech heads when you really would like them to come on.
*All I know for sure is the Stat B will work with the Grace Felix which provides 12 volts to the correct leads on the pickup. Whether or not it will operate correctly at 11 volts is
anyone's guess. One possible positive sign, is that the Stat Pre runs of a 9v battery.

The Stat B works through my little K&K Trinity 2 channel preamp okay, using the 9 volt phantom power on the mic (ring) channel.
I can’t blend with a condenser mic though as the other channel is for a pickup, without phantom power.
I send the output to an AI Claris head. If it works with a Felix I guess that’s another option I could consider, instead of the Headway
I should have mentioned I used a converter from Shertler to take the 48v down to 9v.

Right, but I could hear it and it drove me nuts. And “decent sound tech” and double bass are often mutually exclusive subjects, unfortunately.

I tried it once, long ago, nothing like hanging a full featured preamp on you belt, of to the side, where you cannot see all the controls with two or three cables running into and out of the EDB-2. I felt line Doc Brown in Back to The Future

I traded some email in early January with the owner of Headway. He said this new model is being manufactured in Poland. He said:
"It's slimmer, lighter, same width but longer, an extremely crammed in design with 5 PCB's inside and a cunning battery access on an L shaped plated."
He also said he hopes to have it ready for sale in February but "might take a bit longer." He predicts a price increase later this year.

Sounds about right, I believe the EDB-1 and EDB-2 were built in Tiawan. When they added the full EQ for Channel 2 they had to make it longer. Headway has a design team in England that makes prototypes and then outsources it to a manufacturer overseas. Poland can build very high quality electronic products. The EDB series has always been a very intricate build.
