Hey guys, I'm new here on talk bass. I've had my account for a while but haven't actually gotten on. If I put something under a wrong thread, tell me. I want to know your favorite bass player- mine are John Paul Jones, and James Jamerson mainly. My favorite bands and artists are the Beatles, led zeppelin, David Bowie, Queen, Hendrix, Black keys, and a lot of blues musicians. What are yours?

Welcome to talkbass , funny I was just telling somone the bedt advice to a new bass player I ever got was buy led Zeppelin 2 and learn all the bass parts.

I like Victor wooten, Jaco pastorious, bootsie collins, Tony levin, led claypool, and recently geddy lee (I just wish he didn't sing)

Too many favs to list.
For blues I listen to Robin Ford & Joe Bonamassa.
They always have great bass players. Eric Czar is a standout with Joe B.

Welcome, jcp. If I had to pick one fave bassist, it would have to be Jaco. But other major faves and influences include Paul Chambers, Stanley Clarke, Jeff Berlin, and Randy Meisner. I might add Geddy to that list (and I think he had the perfect voice for Rush, until he lost it). No doubt that Jamerson and JPJ are two all-time bass greats as well. Favorite bands and artists? Miles Davis (especially the classic quintet), Yes, Weather Report, CSO, Berlin Philharmonic, the Eagles, Return to Forever, George Strait, and Merle Haggard are all way up there.
