You can say a lot of things about Ibanez, but being afraid to try whacky things isn't one of them.

The GSR has Power Sound pickups so even if the colors weren't a deal breaker the pickups would be. I just know from past experience with Ibanez that those pickups don't provide what I consider good tone.

Regardless of the first two posted (which aren't my style), this one is definitely interesting...

Not sure I would buy it... seems a little gimmicky, but certainly worth trying out.

What I don't understand is why they just replicated the D and G strings for the fretless part, instead of going for C and F, or alternately tuning the bass B-E-A-D fretted, G-C fretless. As things stand, playing that instrument requires learning new fretboard patterns and I really don't think it's worth the time investment compared to simply buying a fretless.

A shame, though. That's a gorgeous instrument.

I talked to a guy named Tom at Ibanez and he was telling me the 2 fretless strings are the same as the fretted G and D string mainly for soloing. While I have never done this before because I have never owned a fretless, I guess those two strings are mainly used for doing a lot of solos but it would give the player the versatility to have a fretted solo along with a fretless solo on the same bass.

And almost everyone I know likes Ibanez. Ok, ok, ok, you guys got me, because all my bass players I know are highschool / college.

But my opinion is that rondo sx new headstock is the lamest.

Japanese like "fun" looking stuff. Like they have these over there:

Blasphemy! The SDGR headstocks are the BEST ever! Btw, I own 3 Ibanez basses....
