New Jazz Bass pick-ups distorting

Hi All!

I have not long had a new MIA Jazz (passive) and love it. The only problem is I play quite hard with my right hand and when i really dig in I get a distorted signal. Its a shocker when I go to do solos. Any ways I can stop it? I am also thinking of changing the pups to Nordy NJ4's or SD Antiquity II's. I will be keeping it passive (or is that why it distorts?). Do these pups do the same thing!

How hard you dig the string? i know if i dig my so hard that it will drive the input on the amp to create distortion.
May want to work on the right hand technique

If your playing with both pups full on, and you dig in a bit, you will get a lil "grind". I like to roll both volumes to around 8.5, I think the tone gets a lil sweeter.

Rather than back off on the volumes, I prefer to lower the pickups a bit to reduce the attack transient.

I have never had a problem with any other bass so it isn't my technique. I have a good technique according to a few influential bass players here in Australia. I will try backing off the volume a bit. Thanks for your feedback!

try lowering the pickups a bit... I had the same problem a while back... lowered them a bit: problem fixed!
