What antics! he wrote one paragraph one time and then even owned it afterward. What antics do you mean, and how does his releasing a CD have anything to do with his comments?

P.S. I have the CD and it is unbelievable, maybe the best demonstration of bass lyricism I ever heard.

hmmm... if by one paragraph one time you mean a new thread every week, then maybe. I like jeff's playing for sure, but I sure wouldn't want to hang out with him.

"disclaimer"
I don't have any stake in Jeff's CD except that I am his friend..and hope him the best on it! (and it is a work of art on electric bass)

If you're not advertising something that you're selling, you're not violating the commercial user policy.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Online, he's one person. In "real life," he's a pretty great guy - high-intensity and high-spirited, yes, but always pretty darn positive and easy to hang around with. His enthusiasm for jazz and bass playing is infectious.

Exactly...just started this thread so you can check out his work....Listen and learn....(or not)...

I've really been looking forward to hearing the new one, "High Standards," and hoping to hear it soon.
I'll second the motion on Jeff's band for this CD. It's the two guys he has toured with in recent years, as a trio. Richard Drexler is a great, largely unsung musician known for his superb work and piano AND upright bass (he also plays cello, sings, writes and probably plays a bunch of other instruments). I produced a session about 10 years ago, on which Richard and another bassist did a duo thing, and halfway through Richard (quietly) switched from bass to piano. Drexler has done a lot of playing with legendary jazzer Ira Sullivan, in addition to releasing his own recordings.
Danny Gottlieb, of course, played in the early version of the Pat Metheny Group, and later formed Elements with PM bassist Mark Egan.
(Nope, I have no official affiliation with Jeff, just a fan and friend/acquaintance).

Almost forgot! Jeff was on that (for-charity) CD that I produced, "Monk in the Sun," too - he did an original Monk-oriented tune called "Monk Punk," a duo with drummer Craig Pichanick.

Speaking of something that I'm giving away - not selling: If any Berlin completists out there are interested in hearing that Berlin track I mentioned (above post), please PM me and I'll send the CD to you. All that I ask is that after you receive it you pay me for the postage, or just mail me something cool in return.
