New Kappalites

The LF might be ok for bass but what I don't like (I haven't looked at the specs chart in months so this is by memory) is the typical rising midrange which means that you'll need a cone mid crossed over not too high. Using a 5" or 6" mid kindof defeats the purpose of a small box.

Roger, sure... at least the 3010MB is a (low)mid driver and may substitute the Kappa Pro 10, but pray, what about the LF ??? Sure, I have seen the suggested cabinet designs, but meeh.... :ninja:

The LF does have a mid response dip something like the bp102, followed by a big peak that comes where the ears are pretty sensitive. To me, that makes it's useable range pretty much from the lowmids down to wherever it runs out on the bottom.

The 3010MB came about as a direct result of the 3012 variant Eminence built for us. Our engineer at Eminence said that they were pretty happy with that driver and felt that there might be a place for a "middle ground" model when they came out with the 3010 line up. Looks like they choose to follow up on that. That said, I'm still thinking that there is more bang for the buck to be had with the 3012's, unless you specifically need the smaller footprint of the 10's.

The main thing the 10s would do is let you market to the 10-loving crowd. :)

I suspect that a .5 aligned 8x10 with those 3010MBs would probably be pretty devastating. Very expensive too, but hey. People will pay 1k for an Ampeg 8x10 so something that can do what 3 ampeg 8x10s can do ought to be worth 2k ;)
