I've brought the bass into the den to continue curing the next few days until my refresh bottle of Tru Oil arrives. Then I will do four coats or so on the back of the neck, and let the whole thing cure up nice and hard next week while I am traveling. I'm hoping to get the rear cavity cover made and into finish so it can cure up during that time period as well.
Man that birdseye really looks fantastic! I may switch from brass rods to the Luminlay for the next builds. I love that black jacket surrounding the glow material!
Yeah you know these Luminlays are hard to beat especially after you have them on one bass. The install is pretty fun, and that moment when they are installed flush and light up the first time, it's a pretty cool sight!
Some sunlight in the den this morning lit up the grain nicely. Excited to buff this sucker out.
Maybe next time choose a piece with a little more figuring... This looks a little bland..

And to think this walnut slab was almost relegated to the scrap heap. I can't even believe it!
And with that, the gold tuners installed to see how they look...this might be my favorite headstock effort so far.
