New look for an old bass

I put some DR Black Beauties and a new pickguard on my P. What do you think?

I love new pickguards on old basses! It gives them that "I just bought a new custom shop bass" look at a distance.

I've seen that pickguard pattern on other instruments and considered it for some of my basses. But in the end I decided to go a bit more conservative. (pearl)

But on yours together with the black strings, I think that combo really WORKS! Woo hoo!

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

I hadn't played this much, but I'm involved in a new blues project and I thought this bass would be the best choice. I always thought this bass (2003 Highway 1) sounded the best acoustically. For this band it has worked very well so far. I've always been a jazz kind of guy, but I can't imagine using anything else at this point.
