I like the set they are playing right now. Some old faves plus some new stuff. I think Brave New World and A Matter of Life and Death are 2 of the strongest albums they have released in their career. AMOLAD is quite possibly my favorite overall Maiden album all time. I really dig that album.

I think the set on this tour keeps them relevant and not just relying on music that was made 25 to 30 years ago. A "Greatest Hits" tour ala the Somewhere Back in Time tour (phenominal) is ok occasionally but if the band, any band, is releasing new material hopefully it is strong enough to be played live. If they play Brighter than a Thousand Suns when I see them next week I might possibly pee my pants. :hyper:

Plus, and this only my opinion, I have seen The Trooper and Run to the Hills enough times live thanks very much; give me some new stuff.

Show was last night. Wish they had done more older material, but the new stuff sounds great too. They kicked ass. Faces were melted. :bassist:

sure, so have I. but thats not the point... I still wanted to hear see/hear it live again...and i think most of the people there felt the same. They ignored a lot of their 'hits' and fan favorites. Bruce even said between songs "If you want to hear stuff you've heard before go listen to a cover band in Vegas" - Which I found to be very odd - Cuz I dont know any Cover band playing Maiden in Vegas :)

You can tell the difference when 10,000+ people aren't very excited during the 5-7 brand new songs...and then they come out and play Number of the Beast and the places goes looney tune.


To be fair no one knows the new songs yet... however, they don't sound like classic Maiden songs. Sounds like they are going in a different direction. Some say thats good... but I am not so sure.

Ummm some of the "new songs" are 10 years old. At what point are they no longer new just less older than the 80s stuff? They are sllightly more progressive sounding for sure.

Your 10,000+ people are obviously not the same as the 10,000+ people I watched the tour with. :)

No, I mean the *NEW* stuff. I am referring to stuff that hasnt been released yet. The cd isn't out until Aug 16th! :) Trust Me, if you took a poll I am sure your crowd wanted to hear more 'classics' too -- they probably should have just spaced them out in the set more.
