New matte black 4003 coming?

I don't think Ric does 'groundbreaking' in this century. Closest thing I can think of is the 4004 in what, 2003?

I think the pg should be matte too, though.

I'd have to see one in person to decide. I get where you're coming from, but if it didn't match the body exactly, it'd look worse.

For the record, I really like this one. I'm a sucker for black-out basses, though, as my all time favourite is a custom color Jazz in black with matching headstock, rosewood board and old-school pepperoni tort guard...

I think it's really cool. Check binding is awesome...makes it more than just a new paint color.

One of the nicest Rickenbacker basses I've seen. Pickguard compliments it perfectly. If it came with a matte pickguard I'd replace it with a smoked mirror one.
Only thing wrong might be the price.
$500 over a similar model or even more?
Seriously, are they actually calling it the Blackbird?

I think it's hot. But I'm a sucker for blackout basses too. Hammersmith is making me a 5er blacked out as we speak.

The binding on that Ric is a nice touch. It almost looks like stitching on a black leather motocycle seat. I dig the whole thing as is.

I've bought several Ricks over the years thinking "this will be the one that makes me like them."

I have yet to be right about that, but the flat black is a cool look.
