New matte black 4003 coming?

I'd have to see one in person to decide. I get where you're coming from, but if it didn't match the body exactly, it'd look worse.

I think if it matched the rest of the hardware it'd work, but a painted pickguard isn't the best idea I've ever had. Black anodized aluminum might look decent, but then the pickup rings and bridge would need to be the same IMO.

Oh well, it's a fairly sharp looking instrument as-is, and would look even sharper as a 4003S. I'm kinda surprised they didn't spring for black screws too.

I like the fretboard and the hardware. The matte finish....meh. Maybe it looks better in person. Granted, I'm not a matte finish fan except for natural finishes.

Odd stylistic choices to go with the matte. I'd post the emoticon with the hyphen for a mouth if I used emoticons.

They could've gone with woven carbon-graphite. That might look cool.

At first glance, I actually thought it was covered in leather and stitched. Maybe Harley Davidson should have teamed up with Rickenbacker to create an HD Special Edition with this model.

It looks a lot more like matte gray than black but it's probably due to the lighting and exposure being a little hot in the photos.

Matte black hardware is cool and if I was in the market for a Ric I'd be considering this one.

I've only ever played a Ric very briefly, so can't say much about 'em, however I've loved the sound whenever I've heard one gigged and have always thought they look pretty cool.

This one takes the cake though, and I'll probably buy one.

Love those inlays too.
