New Member/Old Bassist

Hello all...

Brand new member here, but I've been playing bass all my life. I play a lot of bluegrass and jazz, but fill in in a lot of country-flavoured bands too. I am a multi-instrumentalist, my first instrument being the dobro, but I play banjo, mandolin, and lots of guitar, both acoustic and electric. I've liked playing music all my life, but now that I've retired early, I am loving having lots of time to practice and play!

My bluegrass band is a 5 piece aggregation, but duiring the winter, our regular bass player goes south to Florida, so I become a bass player till the spring.

I don't own an electric bass any more, but do play an Eminence EUB through a GK MB-150E and also have a 1950 Kay "Chubby Jackson" S-51 5 string bass that is an absolute delight. Loud and resonant, I usually play it at jazz gigs, where it shines with that "growl" that we all love.

Looking forward to reading the forum and contributing if I can.
