Just wanted to convey my thanks to all of you for all the info and support on here.
Like the rest of you, many late nights are now spent deep-diving into the world of bass.
I am 55 and about 3 years into playing bass. In short, I love the bass!
I chose the guitar path at 13 or 14. I made my living playing professionally for twenty five years. All styles, jazz to country to shred, blah blah. My interest kind of capped out on trying to keep the chops up when I finally had to get a day job.
I bought a cheap bass on a whim about 4 years ago. I was just going to record some little tracks at home, add some simple bass to them, etc.
Then..wham! The bass bug hit. What an amazing and perfect instrument. Melodic AND percussive AND tactile. Though my fingers are getting old and slowing down some, I'm really intrigued and want to absorb it all while I have time. I am convinced it would have been a good (better?) choice for me in the beginning. I am drawn to the funk like a skunk.
Curious..did this happen to any of you later in life? As in, taking to this instrument really hard?
