Hi, I'm new, so I thought that I would tell you a little about myself...
As my user name would suggest, I'm very much into heavy rock (Hendrix, Trower, Zep, Cream, UFO, etc.) I also play a lot of classic rock and blues. I've been playing for about 25 years, the first ten, under the expert tutelidge of Tommy Rock, at the now defunct Schweide's Music. The last fifteen have been spent mostly woodshedding, although I've done short stints in a couple of bands. I've been fighting fibromyalgia, and more recently, spinal disc problems, so it limits how much I can do. I hope to beat the disc problems by the end of this month, so things are looking up.
I play primarily an '82 Rickenbacker 4001, through a Roland 30W on top of a Roland 60W. I also have an Aria Pro II, and a Fender Bullet Deluxe (which I replaced the pick-ups with Dimarzio humbuckers). I play primarily with a pick, although my finger pickin' is coming along, too. Still, I prefer the pick, because I think I have better tonal control and sharper timing, and it's usually a better fit with my left hand gymnastics. I prefer round-wound nickel strings, because they seem to me to have a warmer, more broken-in sound, right out of the bag.
I hang my hat in Long Beach, California. I have a wife, and three kids.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all. This is a pretty impressive site, from what I've seen so far. hrb
