i've never really introduced my self... just started postin.. my bad. Well i'm dan, live in hot, boring az. Been playin bass for about a year. I used to be a drummer played for nearly 10 years, but got burned out on it. I still dabble every now and then and i still dig hand percussion. Picked up bass and haven't set it down sense. I like futurama and family guy...

I'm studying Psychology at a chilean university and trying to play whenever I can...I don't have a band right now, but I hope to start one sometime soon

Hey guyz im dylan from nc usa, ive been playing bass for about 3 years, im 16 now, i like to stick to the classic's but i also like to try out new rock and metal. i own a peavey cirrus 4 string and its wicked! really nice bass for anyone intermediate to play on. my rig is an swr 4x10 with a hartke 5000 head. nice punchy sound i play in a couple duets, school jazz band, and a rock band in progress (need singer an drummer)...but thats abt it...keep it rockin guyz /,,/

Started playing bass in my thirties on a dare from a guitar player. The dare turned out to be a wonderful ride.

I play in two bands: One a Christian rock bank and the other a worship band that travels to rescue missions and prisons.

I'm a happy owner of a Rickenbacker and Fender P-bass.

I also own a sound system so sound tech for others when time permits.

Heya, just joined after reading a ton of articles. I'm a rank beginner on bass, have played hand percussion and done some singing (badly_). My friends bought me a cheap Dean Playmate for helping them with some projects, and I'm enjoying the learning and playing immensely. I was not playing music for a while, and just the short time I've had this bass, and some other things have made me realize how much I missed music in my life.

My goals are to be able to jam with friends (they ALL play guitar, but they're good guys despite a serious flaw like that), and just generally enjoy playing music. I am currently converting my living room into a music room, we have several keyboards (my wife plays), and my son wants to play drums, so they will end up in there as well.

I've found more material to digest here than I think I'm able to, but I'll try.

I'm an old fart who's been doing the traps since the mid 70s around the country and occasionally overseas. I'm married and have one daughter. Beneath the formal and austere facade their lurks an old school hard rocker and hard liver who's well let's just say lead an interesting life.

Well, I guess I just noticed this thread. Joined a week ago, been busy posting all over the place.

Started playing bass in 96, was gigging by 97... Had a kid late 97, joined the Navy in 99, quit playing for a while. Picked it back up by late 2000, and haven't looked back. Currently in an active original modern rock band in Virginia Beach, Link Removed, and working on a side project jam band to exercise my jazz/prog side. Good grip of theory, working to make it better, loads of experience. Can't imagine not playing... I'm that guy that really gets into the pocket and feels the groove. I also teach beginner & intermediate bass, and beginner guitar.

Started out influenced by a fairly narrow range of metal and rock bassists, but have gradually moved out to encompass most of popular music today. Currently in a huge jazz phase. Four basses (got a good deal on a beater yesterday) with an acoustic on the way, constantly upgrading/switching gear around.

Hello all,

Been lurking awhile, but just started posting today when I needed some advice. Great site!

I've played guitar for almost thirty years. A long while back I bought myself a lovely Kramer acoustic bass to fill out a duo I was in, learned two songs, then never touched it again.

Years and years later I'm singing and playing guitar in a little combo, and decided to pull out the old Kramer. Well, it sounds and looks fabulous, but it's just too difficult to play. So I borrowed the cheapest electric bass ever made and started playing. Must admit that I feel like I've come home. Now I pretty much only use the guitar for songwriting. The bass playing is coming along, especially considering that the learner is over forty with a full time job and has to do laundry and make lunches and help with homework before I can find 10minutes to practice.

Getting a new baby next week. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I know it looks like a puff-ball, but this chick guitar's got balls.

Anyway, very happy to be a part of the TB community.

Started playing music when I was around 7, been playing something since then. I can play various instruments, but really settled on the bass. Been playing the bass since 1990ish. Really got into it big time when I realized I was better at it than anything else and started learning songs by ear, mostly Rush and Megadeth. Opposite ends of the spectrum I know, but I like technical music. Now I play lots of thrash metal simply cause its fast and technical. Found this site when I was researching an impending purchase from Guitar Center, and thanks to lurking here the forum talked me into buying an Ibanez Soundgear SRX during their clearance sale that was exclusive to GC (and maybe some other outfit). I do not play in a band currently partly because I do not have time and partly because it is rare that I find other folks that can play the stuff that I like.

This site has tons of great info, look forward to hangin here some.
