Can anyone with the Fathom, pleae post a quote from the manual on what the eq settings of the different voice control settings are. I am really curious as to what that knob does.

New Mesa/Boogie Fathom Amp

I called with a specific question, among others regarding the Fathom Combo (see previous posts for the TBA, and don't know reponses/guesstimates), that the brochure does not mention a slip cover, the Pro Net Price list does not mention a slip cover but does have a Fathom Combo slip cover listed under REPLACEMENT SLIP COVERS as part No. 091717 @ $69.00.
"Does the Fathom Combo come with a slip cover or do I have to specify the slip cover in addition to the combo order one?" was my question.
The response from Marcus Daniel in Customer Service was "YES it comes with a slip cover just like the Venture Combo".
I explained that I was going to order a custom vinyl combo and it would be nice to keep it looking nice and clean. He again responded that a slip cover came with the Fathom Combo.
Care to share the E-mail address you have for Mesa Engineering Customer Service? I can't find one on their "under construction Website".

OK, Let's see.
Position 1 - extreme cut at 540Hz
2 - gentle scoop at 540 Hz
3 - Voice feature bypass
4 - Mid Boost at 370 Hz
5 - Low mid boost at 170 Hz
The other Midrange knob is boost only. The frequencies are not indicated.
I have found positions 2 and 3 to be the most musical to my ears.
Thanks for the info...Man, I wish they had gone with a semi parametric on this amp. Maybe I'm wrong, but this seems a little limiting.

"Your amp may or may not ship with a slipcover. The Fathom 2x12 slipcovers have been on backorder from the beginning of the 2x12 production, so everyone that has purchased a Fathom 2x12 has not yet received their slipcover.
Once the back order is released these slip covers will be shipped out to all of the dealers that have ordered Fathoms. If the dealers have sold the Fathoms to a new customer, it is their responsibility to contact the new Fathom owner to supply them with their slipcover. Hope that makes sense.
So one way or another you'll get your slipcover, you'll just need to keep in contact with your dealer to insure you get it once it arrives."
One month custom vinyl wait time and counting.

I am waiting on the slip cover also. I am thinking about ordering a TUKI cover with the added padding. It will have to have cutouts for the wheels and pull bar.
After a bunch of gigs, the amp continues to impress me. I may get a Vintage Powerhouse 2x12 cab to fit underneath it for some larger/outdoor gigs.

Although tone and volume go hand in hand, I will try to seperate the two. This is only my opinion, but the Fathom is much louder and punchier. To me, you should be able to achieve the same amount of punch and articulation at louder volumes as you would lower volumes. You can feel when an amp is running out of head room, but I haven't come close with the Fathom. I am not downplaying the Shuttle, it is an excellent product, but it does not give me the same feeling.
Tonewise, the Fathom has everything I want. Straight up, it sounds fantastic, and I usually tweek the bass and treble knobs depending on the room and instrument. The tone selector is usually at 3 or 2.
Make sure you post a review when your Fathom arrives.

That's pretty much the way I felt when I auditioned he Fathom head with the 2x12 Powerhouse cabinet. I kept looking for a pop-up L.E.D. to appear under the Master Volume control asking me "Want More?"
Even playing around with the EQ at "Stoopid" settings it never seemed to run out of breathe or get congested. IMHO
Plug and play with simple modest EQ still makes me happier these days.
Uggh! You just had to mention when I get my combo... still in wait mode.
Oh, and don't let your dealer "hose" you on the slip cover, you have one coming to you when they final ship to Mesa.

No Problem with the slip cover. They are on back order, but I am sure I will get it when they come in.
I did however order a Tuki cover. I have had many of them and they do a good job protecting equipment. I wanted more than just a slip cover, I wanted the 1/2" padding. I had to have one specially made including cutouts around the rear wheels and a velcro flap that goes underneath the hand truck bar. I will let you know how it fits when I get it.

I too am interested in maximizing protection for the Custom Vinyl on my Fathom COmbo as well.

I went into my music store today (Zone in Cotati, literally the closest music store to the mesa factory) and asked them what was going on with the Fathom, because it was off the website. I was told that they are having patent issues with the name. Basically they have a warehouse of them right now and they are unable to sell them because someone apparently has a patent on the name. Personally, I got mine a month and a half ago, and couldn't be any happier with it. What sold me on the Mesa was the simple interface on it. Many other amps have wayyy more knobs and switches than they need, the fathom is clean and gorgeous. The tone out of this puppy is amazing. The voice controls are awesome. I like leaving it on one of the 2 mid dip positions with the sub bass enhancer on....sounds like freaking butter.
It's a bummer mesa released these without covering all their basses on the name, but from what I was told, they should be re-released soon under a different name. If you see one under any name, I'd say jump on that immediately...you will not be disappointed.

I played one of these through a Mesa Powerhouse cab at a local music store. I have to say I was surprised at how transparent this sounded. Lots of lows- solid mids - clear highs. No real coloration at all. I was kind of hoping for more of a compressed tube presence, like a Walkabout. This is not like that at all. Kind of reminded my of my old
SWR SM900 - in a good way. Just solid, clear, clean tone. And the five-position mid-select really did make noticeable changes in the amps tone.
If you love the sound of your bass and want to reproduce THAT sound, then I would definitely recommend this amp.
If you were hoping for a more vintage bass sound, this is likely not the MESA for you.
My 2 cents.

I've had one on order for about six weeks. I just contacted my dealer, who just spoke with his Mesa rep. He was told there is no issue with the name, and that production is on schedule. There may be a delay (didn't say what the delay was, but did say it would be in terms of weeks, not months) but everything is on schedule. 
I did notice that Mesa did not run their full page "Fathom" ad in this month's BP magazine. I'll post up if I hear of any other developments on my end.

Something is going on. No website and no magazine ad. I hope everything works out alright, the Fathom is a fantastic amp.
