New mesa subway amps and cabs!

I am very much enjoying my WD 800. I did a little gigging with it this weekend.
I usually have a sound that everybody likes but, after setting up my rig with the new head and played a bit.
Folks turned and asked what is that? Made me smile
I'm loving the 2-ohm setting with my 8-ohm cabs. Loving the feel also.

I get nothing but accolades for how my two 112 cabs sound and I'll say without any hint of bias that they are the best sounding cabs I have ever played.

Unfortunately had to sell the first two to help fund different surgeries..
Now I'm debating an 800+... just to check out the hype of the HPF and extra mid control... want to compare to the HPF on my Cali 76CB

I guess that's an option. Just plug into the AUX in of my D800

That's what I did, it was cheaper than selling the D800 and buying a new D800+ at the time. HPF is really useful, but I still have the smaller D800 for restaurant gigs etc. The 800+ seems brighter and may have slightly less low end "flat" than the D800. The addition of having the Boost switch is useful too.
I’m pretty sure the HPF on your Cali76 is for the detector circuit of the compressor only. It’s not actually removing low end from your output signal, it’s only preventing the compressor from clamping down on bass frequencies.Toss me into the pot..

I think the HPF control on the Cali76CB operates differently than a basic HPF. I was just reading something about it, but I don't remember what I read (heh, age, the gift that keeps on giving ... or is that taking away ?
) ... but I recall that the HPF operates in the pedals sidechain plus there was something about how its not quite a straight forward high pass filter.
So, I was running through the factory sample settings at the back of the owner's manual
for the WD 800 and got down to the Tube Grind and Punch setting.
While I was playing at that setting, my 11yo grandson ran in and asked if I broke my new amp already?

My WD-800 is still my go to favourite. I’ve sold some very highly regarded amps lately and this one is staying.

Yes, it will fit, @absenthorse posted that the dimensions are the same.
I recall him saying the the rackears were interchangeable also.

yes, I know, and the bag included with the WD800 works fine.
I was actually asking about whether the WD800 would fit into the headcase that was originally offered for the Walkabout. I have my Walkabout in the headcase now and I know the WD800 will fit in there too - although the back of the amp will be quite recessed in the case.
I decided some time ago that it did not make a lot of sense to put a 7lb amp into a 23lb headcase .. unless I was going to tour heavily ... and I don't have anything like that planned in the near future.

I’m considering getting one of the newer subway amps to have a 2 ohm option.
I currently have a Monique & a streamliner 900 & love them. Of the three subway models, which will get me closest to the Monique/streamliner tone-wise? I’m primarily playing Reggae/soul/etc. (P bass with flats)

I have both the Subway+ DI and the Cali76CB. The manual for the Cali makes it seem like HPF only affects the compressed signal and that what my ears hear but it definitely works in a pinch if you have no other HPF. I don’t find also having an HPF on the Subway DI+ to interfere with it but would definitely set it higher (I keep it around 9:00) if I didn’t have the Cali76CB.
It won’t filter the low end out of the compressed signal, it filters the sidechain feeding the detector circuit so that you actually get more low end because your low end isn’t triggering the compressor. No signal passing through the pedal is being filtered in any way. It will not work as a substitute high pass filter, it will actually do the opposite, which is sound fatter and with stronger low notes.
