That honestly is a real handy feature.
I love my D800(as posted earlier I bought it new the day before the WD800 announment..) love its simplicity, the tone, and made me get a matching 1x15 as well which is another winner in my book.
With that being said, I cant help but wanting to try a WD800 though.
I keep looking at sweetwater WD800 page which says "in stock"... must resist...drool

I should have the preamp pedal Friday, will try to crank out a quick video over the weekend. Likely won't gig it until later in the month.

@agedhorse , this thing (WD-800) sounds and feels fantastic. I've only been able to get a few minutes in (it's late and I share walls with neighbors), but I am impressed.

The WD is ridiculous. The growl and bite I get out of it is what I've been looking for! Thank you @agedhorse it's an incredible piece of gear.
This may be a little long but hopefully it's found useful to some. Let me preface this that the D800+ is the only Mesa amp I've ever played on.
I spent some time with the WD yesterday. I gave it enough volume to do some testing, obviously not a gig situation. Wow, just wow. I love the D800+ but this is on another level for me.
Now I'm not incredibly technical with my descriptions but the overall depth of my tone though this head is spot on for what I've been looking for. I basically kept the para eq flat with some adjustments to hear differences. All of the control you have of the mids is probably my fav feature so far. Overall it just has a growl and bite to the overall tone that I can see slicing through the mix live. It sounds more lively overall compared to the D800+ but the D800+ is still magical with my Kiesel that has flats on.
The damping knob is interesting, Andy is completely right that it's something you just feel. I can't even put it into words, it's difficult to explain. I can hear a difference with all 3 positions and it was really apparent with my P bass that has nickelwounds on it. I liked all 3 settings, I think the low feels more vintage/tubey.
I also compared it to my Fender 100T. I've only used it in the studio since it doesn't quite have enough juice for me on gigs (found out the hard way), plus it's a bit heavy. To me it's my favorite tube head, unless I ever try a prodigy. With the damping on low and rolling back the mids a little bit, I can actually get insanely close to the Fenders tone. The growl of the WD is unmistakable and shines out over the 100T which surprised me.
It's has a wide range of tones that will no doubt keep me happy for a very long time. Even better Mesa Hollywood put the footswitch with cable in the box too! The icing on the cake is it's serial # 13 which is my favorite number (sorry for those who think it's unlucky). I can't wait for my next gig now!

Seeing your WD on top of the BBII is not helping me deal with the wait.
Any Audiokinesis users get a WD yet?
What Mpike said! Love how tubey this gets. With the gain up to just an occasional blink of the O/D yellow LED gives a nice zing, and sounds great with both P Basses (flats and RW).
NOT helpful....now I gotta find some more money to get one of these!
Got my Quilter listed.
I loved my BB800 until I sprung for the D800+. I sold it a week later. It's powerful but I struggled cutting through the mix and I just couldn't eq it to help. I always use pedals and a preamp (I didn't for testing purposes to really hear the amp) and couldn't coax it through a mix which drove me nuts and why I tried the D800+ in the first place. Plus one gig I went to turn it on, no power and I didn't bring a backup. Quilter fixed it in a timely manner but it was an internal fuse that came loose somehow and had to be fixed. The WD will be worth it when you can get it!
