New Meshell's Fodera ..?

I never saw the finished bass but I know they were making her one. I remember having a conversation with her and Beez about it backstage at a show a couple of years back. At that point she wasn't sure what she wanted. I think Beez ended up going to a subsequent rehearsal with her and helping her get it dialed in.

I remember the final design was an odd one... I think it was planned to be a short scale as well. The bass in the video is probably the one. I'll firm up the details though when I get a chance.

I checked this thread out since I am a Meshell fan. After seeing the video, I guess I don't care what she is playing Meshell really sounds like Meshell whether she is playing that vintage Jazz, her Modulus Jazz, this new Fodera, or that Les Paul bass she endorsed back in the day.:)

I guess it is comfortable and maybe gives her something I can't detect, but her sound, IMO, remains the same. That, however, is a good thing!:bassist:

No doubt. . .

I always wondered why she didn't play some sort of smaller, custom bass, because she is a short woman with a small frame. She wears her basses so high and her fretting arm is like sticking up all night long, but obviously she doesn't mind. A Jazz bass looks humongous on her.

Wow, that's a weird looking Fodera!
Not nearly as elegant as their other designs, but it's cool to see they're trying new things.
It doesn't look nearly as weird when it's being played though, maybe it's something to get used to.

I really dig that 1+3 headstock, it's probably so they can extend the length of the E-string to try and combat any flabbiness due to the short scale, like those extended B headstock's they do.

If anyone can get any better pics and specs on her new bass I'd be really interested to see 'em.

The pic I put up is probably an older bass. I don't think they've offered Bartolinis for quite some time now.

I don't recall any flab on any short scale basses I've played. Granted, that may be the reason for the layout but I've played a 30" scale six where even the low B was tight.
